HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR BOOK?

GREETINGS!

Are you a writer? Have you just published your first book and have no idea what to do next? Worry not bestie, I’ve got you covered.

In this blog I would be talking about “what to do after you have published your first book”.

INTRODUCTION

So you just published your first book? This calls for celebration, but wait. Your work just started.

Th real work of your brain, hands, hearts and body is for what comes after you publish your book.

After publishing the next step is about advertising it, so lemme just re phrase the title of today's blog.

Welcome, let’s start to understand the facts on “how to advertise your first book”?

Before we get started, I wanna tell you that may you are a new bee or an old one, every time you write a book, you need to promote it and these tips might help to do so as well.

Here it goes.

STEP 1: AUTHOR WEBSITE

What is an author website? An author website is an exclusive website for authors where you promote and advertise for your book or any sort of big events you plan to do.

STEP 2: SOCIAL MEDIA

Bestie, don’t even get me started on this. Today’s world is nothing without a social media.

Promote it on twitter, Facebook, Instagram and even WhatsApp. Gather attention of your fans.

Trick them into buying your book (not directly though, and I do not support fraud so I inevitably do not support in tricking your fans, be genuine and true, that is what sells.)

STEP 3: LINKEDIN AUTHOR PAGE

We both know how fast LinkedIn is growing. It is a trend.

Make your LinkedIn author page and keep posting about your big events like I mentioned above and just like I said before GATHER ATTENTION.

STEP 4: PROMOTE ON YOUTUBE

Yep, neither am I a big fan of camera but you gotta do it. See how people promote their books on YouTube. Get some ideas. Follow through your work. It might take time to you know beat the YouTube algorithm but it’s definitely worth it.

Here are some YouTube channels that would guide you on how to promote your book on YouTube.

Do not worry guys, it’s tried and tested. Also don’t forget to say hi to the you tubers and don’t forget to tell them that “you came to their channel after reading the blog of writingspeare.”

STEP 5: SELL ON AMAZON

We both know, how big amazon is as a company. And hear hear, Jeff Bezos started amazon as an online book store in the beginning. I’ll share some analytics with you guys on how much percentage does books hold on amazon.

Source: Google

Source: Google

You can see in the pie chart above that, books have over 33,214,143. Books come under the top ten product categories in amazon. So you get an idea how much it means to have a book on amazon.

Also, if you are publishing via amazon KDP (like I did) you get an advantage of publishing an e-book as well.

Now why an e-book is important?

Well because not everybody reads paperback and over 1 million people have kindle unlimited. Which means they get to read your book for free apparently, which also mean, that you get to generate the KENP on amazon KDP which, is a analytical stimulator which generates royalties.

The royalties generate for when someone reads 1 or 2 or the any number of pages.

For example they read 10 pages from your 300 pages book, you generate for about $1-$5. Which again is not much. But on e-book of amazon KDP you can promote your book for free for 5 days.

When I did my book through that my sales boosted up insane. I had over 1000 pages read in total where the total number of pages of my book was 118.

You see what I am saying here?

STEP 6: NETWORKING

Now the next step is to do networking. How do you do that?

You got to do one thing, attend book publishing events.

This is a great way to connect and expand your network in your very niche. Seriously do it no joke. Search for these events and mark them on your calendar. With covid on our heads, everything is online. So it would be easy to attend these as well.

Interact in these seminars as much as possible. I mean go beyond your comfort zone.

Yes, I am calling you out on this.

STEP 7: REGISTER ON GOODREADS

The good old good reads. Seriously don’t debate this, don’t question this because people love good reads. Go register yourself on that NOW!

STEP 8: AUTHOR PODCASTS

Author podcasts, a great way of networking and expanding your career.

Search for authentic content on google for how to start your own podcast(s) and you’re good to go bestie.

STEP 9: SEND YOUR BOOK TO PRODUCER OR EDITOR VIA FED EX OR UPS

This is the last step of having your first book’s edition complete. Or maybe even the millionth book as well. The title is itself self explanatory.

Just send your book to a producer or editor and it might take time, but keep bugging them off so they know that a author name (y/n) exists and their book name (b/n) is there.

CONCLUSION:

You need to remember that this is your first book and it need not be perfect. It is completely okay if the first book sucks because it would. You are new to this field, you would learn eventually by experience and that’s the beauty of being a writer.

“A story written in a book is already well written” – My father said this to me when I wrote my first book. And trust me the book sucked. The book was not as good as it looked. I mean the content and book cover and all the necessities were perfect but I did not have sales because nobody knew me. And that is completely fine. Why would someone buy your book if nobody knows you? They will not.

The first thing to remember is that you should not stop writing even when the first book sucks, and even if there are no sales at all.

Also remember that you do not stop promoting it until your next book is in the market.

Keep the hype up bestie.

Thank you for reading it this far. I hope this helped you in any way possible.
